New Joint Private Cloud Solution Combines HP Cloud Infrastructure, Microsoft Windows Server 2012

HP and Microsoft have launched a joint private cloud initiative that combines HP management tools, infrastructure and Windows Server 2012HP and Microsoft have launched a joint private cloud initiative that combines HP management tools, infrastructure and Windows Server 2012

HP announced on Wednesday that it is expanding its Converged Cloud with joint HP and Microsoft solutions to improve its private cloud portfolio.

The joint, multiyear initiative includes optimized, preintegrated solutions and reference architectures. HP CloudSystem optimized for Microsoft comes with HP Converged Infrastructure, cloud management from HP, Windows Server 2012 and Microsoft System 2012 SP1 (to be available in early 2013).

This news comes as many web hosting providers launched new hosting services this week based on Windows Server 2012.

To streamline the management experience, HP CloudSystem includes interoperability between HP Insight Management and Microsoft System Center. This means customers can use System Center to deploy, monitor and update HP infrastructure without switching between consoles.

According to the press release, HP and Microsoft have also designated significant funding for partner cloud programs. The funding will support incentives, marketing, demand generation and training for sales and deployment of the two-node HP Departmental Private Cloud, which ?combines HP Converged Infrastructure with ?shared nothing? live migration, Hyper-V replica and the other breakthrough capabilities of Windows Server 2012.?

HP and Microsoft are longtime partners, and have delivered joint private cloud solutions before but this new agreement has embraced the new features of Windows Server 2012, which focus on server and storage virtualization. At Microsoft?s partner conference in Toronto this July, one session focused on the HP and Microsoft agreement around private cloud and how its partners benefit.

?Because Windows Server 2012 was built from the cloud up, it represents a transformational leap for businesses. The HP Converged Cloud solutions with Windows Server 2012 give customers a clear path to go beyond virtualization and accelerate their journey to the cloud,? said Michael Park, corporate vice president, Windows Server Marketing, Microsoft. ?With this private cloud agreement and more than 30 years of proven cooperation, HP and Microsoft are committed to helping customers drive success for their organizations as they experience the benefits of the cloud.?

According to a report by Redmond Channel Partner, ?HP?s hardware side of the joint private cloud solution consists of HP ProLiant servers, along with storage enabled by HP 3PAR storage systems running Windows Server 2012 with offloaded data transfer technology. ODX is data transfer technology developed by Microsoft that reduces CPU times during large data-copying operations.?
